Tulfo is renewing license to own, operate firearms: PNP
July 15, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) said broadcaster Erwin Tulfo is in the process of renewing his license to own and operate (LTOP) firearms.
"I think it started last week. It's his right to renew his LTOP. Of course after renewing his LTOP he has to renew his other expired licenses," Police General Oscar Albayalde said in a press conference Monday.
The PNP head said Tulfo will be given enough time to renew his LTOP.
According to PNP, LTOP is valid for two years.
Albayalde added that since Tulfo is renewing his license, there is no need to have police intervention.
"If we did not see any effort that's the only time there will be a police intervention but on his part, in fairness, he is undergoing the normal process," he said.
Albayalde said there is no need for Tulfo to return his firearms.
"I think his LTOP is only expired, so we gave him a chance," said Albayalde.
Tulfo was in hot water from the police and military after lamenting Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista did not time to be interviewed during one of his broadcasts.
PNP earlier said his license expired even before the issue came up. Ella Dionisio/DMS
