Tulfo’s camp coordinating with PNP to surrender firearms
June 11, 2019
Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Police Col. Bernard Banac said the camp of broadcast journalist Erwin Tulfo has coordinated with authorities regarding renewal of his licence to own and possess firearms (LTOPF).
Banac said the camp of Tulfo coordinated with the PNP on Monday after Police General Oscar Albayalde, the PNP chief, warned Tulfo should surrender his firearms.
“Yes the camp of Mr. Erwin Tulfo has coordinated with the leadership of Firearms and Explosives Office that they will immediately do the renewal of the licence,” he said
Banac said the PNP is still waiting for Tulfo to surrender his firearms while his LTOPF is not yet renewed.
“We are still waiting for their action to voluntarily surrender the firearms registered under the name of Mr. Erwin Tulfo,” he said.
“If we see that they did not take appropriate action, we can then do the second part of our program the “Oplan Katok” where we visit the residence or place or office of the gun owner to remind the need to voluntary surrender the firearms,” he added.
Banac said Tulfo can surrender his firearms to the firearms and explosive office of PNP or the police station near his residence.
He said if Tulfo fail to surrender his firearms after the Oplan Katok, the PNP may apply for a search warrant to get them. Robina Asido/DMS
