Two alleged high ranking New People's Army (NPA) leaders were arrested in a law enforcement operation in Quirino Province on Monday night.
Maj. Noriel Tabayan, spokesman of the 5th Infantry Division, said arrested was Reynaldo Busania, head of the communication regional organization department, KR-CV (Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley) and Sharon Dela Cruz Malubay, medical officer of Northern Front, KR-CV.
He said Busania has multiple warrants of arrest with no bail for the violations of multiple frustrated murder; serious illegal detention; robbery and arson .
Tabayan said the rebels were arrested during the joint law enforcement operation conducted at Purok 2, Brgy Magsaysay, Diffun, Quirino Province at around 6:55 pm on Monday.
Major General Pablo Lorenzo, commander of the 5th Infantry Division, commended the troops for the accomplishment.
“The success of this operation is attributed to the rigorous efforts of our government forces and the precise information given by concerned citizens in the area," he said.
"The arrest of these high ranking profiles is also considered a big blow to the CPP-NPA ( Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army)-terrorists group and a major setback which surely weakened the CPP-NPA ranks in Region 2," said Lorenzo. Robina Asido/DMS
