Two alleged NPA members killed in Sultan Kudarat

Two alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed in a clash with government troops in Sultan Kudarat on Friday night, a military official said on Saturday.
Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, JTF Central Commander, said troops of 37th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat operation when they chanced upon around 20 armed men at the boundary of Barangay Sta. Clara and Datu Ito Indong in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
Carreon said the five-minute firefight has resulted in the killing two rebels and recovery of war material.
"While clearing the encounter site, troops recovered two enemy cadavers, one M16 rifle, one shotgun, two magazines, IED ( improvised explosive device) triggering device, medical kits, and propaganda materials," he said.
Carreon said after the clash the enemy withdrew bringing along their casualties.
"Our troops are still in pursuit of the fleeing enemies," he said.
Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander, called for the cooperation of the civilian communities as the military intensified its operations against enemies of the state.
"While we intensify our focused operations, we call on the communities to be more vigilant and immediately report any suspicious person or object in your locality," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
