Two barangay watchmen killed, eight hurt in Isabela

Two barangay watchmen died while eight were injured when a vehicle hit them at the roadside in Isabela province on Tuesday morning.
In a report, San Pablo police said the accident happened at the vicinity of Brgy Ballacayu near the Ballacayu Bridge around 9:50 am.
The victims were identified as Ambrocio Lagundi, 47 and Rodrigo Pacion both watchmen of Brgy Ballacayu.
Based on initial report, the victims with other barangay officials were conducting cleaning operation at the side of the road when they were hit by a vehicle driven by suspect identified as Marcial Que Jr, 29, a resident of Brgy District 2 Tumauini, Isabela.
The suspect was traversing the national highway going to the south when he overtook a single motorcycle at the bridge.
"He (suspect) did not notice that there were vehicles coming from the opposite lane. The suspect tried to evade some but he lost control of his steering wheel," the report stated.
After the incident, Lagundi and Pacion were brought to Milagros District Hospital but they were declared dead on arrival.
