Two civilians hurt in attack by alleged NPAs in Sorsogon

Two civilians were hurt after alleged members of New People's Army (NPA) attacked government forces in Sorsogon over the weekend.
Capt. John Paul Belleza, public information officer of the 9th Infantry Division, said based on initial report the Community Support Program (CSP) team from the 31st Infantry Battalion (31IB) based in Barangay Santa Lourdes were fired upon by armed men around 8pm last Saturday.
Belleza said the attack prompted troops to retaliate but two civilian were wounded after rebels fired a granade launcher.
He said hurt was Giselle Emberga,18, but he did not give the name of the other injured victim.
"The identified wounded civilians were immediately transported to the nearest hospital by CSP team," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
