Two cops, civilian asset arrested in Pasig

Two policemen and a civilian asset were arrested in a law enforcement operation in Pasig City on Monday night.

The suspects were identified as Police Corporal Roy Duman-ag, 27, Patrolman Arsenio Velardo, 29, both assigned at the Pasig City Police Station and a certain Janus Francisco, 36, a civilian police asset.

Police Major Virgilio Timajo, Eastern Police District public information officer, said the suspects were arrested in a law enforcement operation at  Tambakan 2 M. Eusebio Ave. Brgy. San Miguel around 9:30 pm.

Timajo said the operation was made following a complaint from Robert Tamondog Ignacio, 28.

"Initial investigation disclosed that the suspect accosted the victim for alleged violation of RA 9165 ( Dangerous Drugs Act)," he said.

"After taking the victim’s cash money worth eight hundred fifty pesos (P 850.00) and silver ring, he was released," he added.

The arresting policemen recovered one piece silver ring, two pieces pistol cal. 9mm Beretta loaded with 48 live ammo and one Swiss knife from the suspects.

In an interview with reporters, Police Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar-- the NCRPO director, said the two policemen will be facing administrative and criminal charges.

"This will serve as lesson to them and warning to others, they will be facing case of robbery with intimidation upon person a criminal case where they can be detained for at least 12 years," he said.

"On the administrative case we will file grave misconduct that may result for their dismissal from the police service," he added.

Eleazar said following their arrest, the two policemen will be assigned to the Regional Headquarters Support Group.

"Now we removed them from their assignment, from their position here at Pasig City Police Station to the Regional Headquarters Support Group, they will be assigned to clean the camp while facing administrative cases," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
