Two ex rebels killed by alleged NPAs in Butuan City

Two persons were killed by former New People's Army ( NPA) comrades in Butuan City last April 18 and 23 , the Army said Saturday
Renante Llore and Joel Canatoy, both from the Higaonon tribe, were awaiting the grant of benefits, assistance, and intervention under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government when they were gunned down.
Major General Antonio Parlade, the Armed Forces of the Philippines' deputy chief of staff for civil military operations and a member of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) urged the National Union of People's Lawyers (NUPL) and human rights group Karapatan to help the families of the two victims.
"Once you become an NPA, the price for leaving the movement is one's own life" said Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, the Army spokesperson. DMS
