Two inmates freed due to GCTA surrender to PNP
September 5, 2019
One day after the announcement of President Rodrigo Duterte, two inmates freed due to good conduct and time allowance (GCTA) law surrendered to the Philippine National Police.
According to Cebu Provincial Police chief, Colonel Roderick Mariano, a convict surrendered a few hours after Duterte's press briefing last Wednesday night to the Bogo City Police Station.
Mariano identified him as Jesus Ranoco Negro Jr., 50, who committed eight counts of murder and frustrated murder.
Negro was committed to the Bureau of Corrections on March 1990.
"He was serving sentence for 30 years at the Bureau of Corrections and released on August 9, 2018 after he availed the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) offered by the government," Mariano said in a text message.
He is under the custody of Bogo City Police Station for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, a certain Nicanor Naz surrendered to Pasay City Police Station around 3 pm Thursday.
Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region director, said Naz was sentenced to life imprisonment on June 3, 1993 for his drug violations.
"He was released from Davao Prison and Penal Farm, B. E. Dujali, Davao del Norte on July 11, 2019 (after serving) 40 years," said Eleazar.
Naz's release was signed and ordered by Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon.
Duterte last night warned all inmates who availed of the GCTA computation to surrender within 15 days or something bad may happen to them.
He also offered a reward of one million pesos per inmates. Ella Dionisio/DMS
