Two minors die in Dipolog blast

Two minors died in an explosion in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday morning.

A report by the Dipolog City police said the explosion believed to be from a riffle grenade occured at the vicinity of Brgy. Sicayab around 9:30 am.

The victims were identified as Omar Khatab, 5 and Abdul Malik, 8, residents of Purok crismus, Brgy. Sicayab, Dipolog City.

Based on initial report, the victims "were playing inside the room of the house when the explosion transpired."

After sustaining injuries from the explosion, the victims were declared lifeless by the responding emergency team, while the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and K9 teams conduct clearing at the explosion site.
