Two of three drug suspects escape in Cainta buy-bust

Two out of three drug suspects eluded capture in a buy-bust operations in Cainta on Saturday morning, a police official announced on Sunday.

In a press briefing on Sunday, Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, National Capital Region (NCRPO) chief said personnel of the Kamuning police drug enforcement unit with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority and other police units conducted a buy-bust operation against three suspects along Imelda Ave., near corner Karangalan Gate 1, Brgy. San Isidro around 11:15 am.

According to the NCRPO, the suspects fled and fired towards the police officers after sending that they were dealing with authorities.

"Operatives chased the fleeing suspects resulting in a firefight. Cops were able to intercept and nab one suspect, however, two others were able to escape," the NCRPO reported.

Arrested was Mark Christopher Palaroan, 32, a resident of No. 133, Charisma St., Dona Andrea, Rosario, Pasig .

The others who escaped were identified as Jeremy Javier of legal age and certain John Doe.

During the operation, authorities seized three stalks of suspected dried marijuana leaves wrapped in  transparent plastic, one piece of genuine P1,000 bill with 30 pieces of one thousand peso bill, amounting to P150,000.00; one android cellphone; one backpack color black; and one Mitsubishi Lancer color red with plate number NQJ 141.

The suspected dried marijuana leaves has an estimated weight of around three kilograms with Dangerous Drug Board value amounting to P360,000.

Palaroan is under the custody of Kamuning Police Station for proper disposition while the recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to Quezon City Police District crime laboratory for examination.

Charges of violating Section 5 of Article 11 of  the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing in court against Palaroan and his two cohorts who remain at large. Robina Asido/DMS
