Two Pasay jail personnel hurt as inmates refuse transfer
September 26, 2019
Two jail personnel were wounded in a commotion inside Pasay City Jail Thursday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Xavier Solda, Bureau of Jail Managament and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson, said they were Jail Officer 1 Jeremy Addawe and JO1 Jessie Boy Alverio.
"Two personnel sustained multiple stab wounds at Pasay City Jail this afternoon," Solda told reporters in a text message.
He said the two did not sustain critical wounds and are now safe.
Solda said the incident happened around 1 pm after the inmates involved resisted to being transferred to another jail facility.
"Twelve persons deprived of liberty are scheduled to be transferred ng jail facility. Accordingly, these are the unruly ones that's why they will be transferred," he said.
"When they learned of the transfer, they resisted and do not want to go out of their cell," he added.
Solda said out of the 12, four are patients and needs to be sent to a better facility for treatment.
Solda said the warden was negotiating with the inmates before the incident.
Solda said visitations were temporarily suspended. "But we hope to resume it the soonest time possible," he added.
Investigation is going on to find out who stabbed the jail officers, what bladed weapons were used and why were these items inside the facility. Ella Dionisio/DMS
