July 21, 2019

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) nabbed two South Korean nationals in Albay for alleged qualified theft.

Two South Korean nationals were onboard a passenger and cargo vessel of Sta. Clara Shipping Corp. en route to Pio Duran Port in Albay when they were arrested by personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station.

Kang Min Go and Choi Min were reported by six fellow South Koreans under the custody of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Masbate City for human trafficking.

Based on a complaint filed against the suspects, the two Korean nationals fled after withdrawing an undetermined amount of money from a bank which was to be used for the financial expenses of six countrymen in jail.

The suspects also allegedly stole money from a certain Mr. Lee in Masbate City.

Pio Duran Coast Guard personnel retrieved a caliber .45 pistol with two magazines loaded with 19 bullets from the suspects.

Coast Guard personnel turned over Go and Min to the Pio Duran Municipal Police Station for the filing of appropriate charges in court. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
