”Vicky” over Bohol Sea, Roque says Duterte monitoring situation

Tropical depression ''Vicky'' is over the Bohol Sea after emerging offshore from the coast of Mindoro Oriental, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number One has been lowered in Visayas and Mindanao, said Pagasa.

It is still hoisted over  the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Dumaran, Taytay, El Nido, San Vicente, Roxas, Puerto Princesa City, Aborlan, Narra, Quezon, Sofronio Espanola) including Calamian, Cuyo, Cagayancillo, and Kalayaan Islands.

Though most warning signals were lowered, President Rodrigo Duterte '' continues to monitor Tropical Depression Vicky as concerned agencies of the government assist areas that are in the track of 'Vicky' and provide rescue and relief operations to affected residents, said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Drugs and medicines were prepositioned in affected regional and provincial Department of Health offices, Roque added. He said Department of Public Works and Highways prepositioned teams are doing clearing operations.

The Philippine National Police has deployed 1,590 search and rescue personnel as of 6 am, Saturday.

''Vicky,'' according to Pagasa as of 10 am was moving west-northwest at 40 kilometers per hour, with maximum winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. DMS
