Villar still leading in senatorial race based on partial, unofficial count

May 14, 2019

Re-electionist Senator Cynthia Villar, an administration ally, remained as the front runner in the senatorial midterm elections.

Based on the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting-Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas ( PPCRV-KBP) partial and unofficial electronically transmitted results as of 11:26 am, Villar received 24,391,803 votes from the 82,996 clustered precincts out of 85,769 clustered precincts.

Re-electionist Senator Grace Poe, an independent candidate, was at second place with 21,328,984 votes.

The other top 15 senatorial bets were Christopher "Bong" Go with 19,769,534 votes; followed by Pia Cayetano, (19,064,705); Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa (18,169,994); Edgardo "Sonny" Angara (17,536,868); Lito Lapid (16,394,083); Imee Marcos (15,306,974); Francis Tolentino (14,885,302); Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. (14,093,281); Koko Pimentel (14,089,180); Nancy Binay (14,067,009); JV Estrada Ejercito (13,817,501); Benigno "Bam" Aquino (13,707,133); and Jinggoy Estrada (10,979,204).

As 12 senators will be elected, only Poe looms as the lone non-administration candidate to make it.

The dispatch of the partial unofficial results of the senatorial polls was delayed Monday night due to the glitch on transparency server of the Commission on Elections.

From the first dispatch at 6:05  pm Monday, this was followed only at 1:19am on Tuesday.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez earlier explained that the glitch on the transparency server occurred when the data it received could not get in to the recipients, such as the different media organizations and PPCRV-KBP.

Meanwhile, PPCRV, the election watchdog, officially started its work of comparing the fourth copy of the election returns that they received with that of the results received by the transparency server.

It is eyeing to complete its work within two to three weeks. Celerina Monte/DMS
