CURRIMAO--The world’s largest privately-owned residential yacht with 200 residents on board, MS The World, docked here on Monday.
MS The World, operated by ROW Management Ltd., is equipped with 165 luxury apartments and world-class features such as a casino, a full-size tennis court, a golf simulator, a jogging track, and a theater.
Angel Lao, head of the Ilocos Norte Travel and Tours, said the passengers have a maximum of eight hours to go around.
''Hopefully in the future, if The World has longer time or if it docks overnight, we can bring the passengers to as far as Pagudpud,” said Lao.
The World’s next stop will be Cebu before it returns to Hongkong.
The Ilocos Norte tourism office expects more dockings in the future as the tourism department and the national government pledged their support in developing Ilocos Norte ports and make the province as one of the main cruise ports in the country.
In 2017, Currimao Port also welcomed Superstar Virgo.
Ilocos Norte has welcomed a steady stream of international cruise ships ushering sustained tourist development, local livelihood and employment in the province. DMS
