February 2, 2019
A policeman was arrested in an entrapment operation in Zamboanga del Norte on Friday afternoon for allegedly extorting money from truck drivers.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF) Commander Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr. identified the arrested policeman as PO3 Juwie Morito Dalogdog assigned at the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Dapitan City Team.
He said Dalogdog was arrested during an entrapment operation in Brgy. San Vicente Puluan Port, Dapitan City around 3:30pm.
Caramat said the operation stemmed from the complaints of several truck and wing van drivers, who traverse the route going to Dapitan Port, that Dalogdog was allegedly extorting money from the drivers in the area ranging from P20 to P200.
He said during the operation the government operatives recovered “200 marked money, (amounting to) P470.00 in different denominations, suspected to be proceeds of his (Dalogdog’s) illegal activity and one Cal .45 pistol loaded with nine (pieces of) ammunition.”
Caramat said the arrested policeman is now under custody of CITF Sub-group Mindanao for proper disposition.
The policeman will face complaints of robbery extortion and violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Robina Asido/DMS
