‘Gorio’ now tropical storm

'Gorio' has intensified into a tropical storm and slightly slowed as it moves north-northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 am bulletin Wednesday. It has maximum winds of 65 kph and guts of up to 80 kph. The storm was sighted 595 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10 am, its bulletin said. The storm will " enhance southwest monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the western section of Luzon and light to moderate rains over the rest of Luzon and Visayas." No tropical cyclone warning signal were raised but some cities suspended classes in all levels like Caloocan, Cavite, Malabon and Olongapo. The local government unit of Quezon City, in its Facebook account, said pre-school to senior high school were suspended.
